The holland of the first half yesterday will not even make it to the finals, the Holland from the second half makes a good chance to win the cup. As they say here; "the ball is round" so it can go either way.
Even though i'm from Belgium, i still hope Holland wins it.

But i'm not a big fan of Van Bommel, he's that kind of guy that wouldn't be welcome in my team.
On the other hand, GO Arjen Robben GOOOO!!!!!!!!

the 1st goal of Holland was one of the weirdest goals in this WK. And it was absurd to see the brazilians lose their fait in 1 moment, but i loved it.

Poor Ghana, I think they deserved to win. but like sgt.D-feat said, the ball IS round, so they lost

Why is van Bommel a guy who you would not want to have in your team? In my opinion van Bommel is one of the most important players in the Dutch squad. The guy is an excellent midfielder.

Agreed, along with Kuyt he can't be missed imo.

Because the way he plays is not clean, he has made a lot "vuile fouten" don't know how it's called in english. Maybe you're blinded by your unconditional love for the dutch team or indeed, his great play but i can't cope with people who make such dirty faults. that's what destroys football the last years imo. Just youtube football vids from 20 years ago, jeez what a difference.

I agree that van Bommel is a player that knows how to make a dirty foul, but players who don't are unfortunatley becoming rare these days. And I can think of players that make a lot more dirty fouls than van Bommel does. Unfortunatley now a days it's better to win dirty than to lose cleanly.

I'm not "blinded by my unconditional love for the Dutch team", my opinion is that van Bommel is an excellent midfielder because he keeps a team together and leads them on the field, just like he did with Bayern Munich.

idd these players are rare but Van Bommel is one of those guys who can't control his emotions.
Ok, everyone makes mistakes, look at Zindane last world cup, doesn't make him a bad player or bad person but what he did is wrong. But i've seen Van Bommel do a lot of things, purely out of frustration like pinching someone in the nuts, putting his elbow in Messis face if im not wrong, flipping off the referee...
and those are just the things i remember... He acts unprofessional in many cases while millions of people are watching and millions read it in the paper the day after. i must say again that he is a great player and what you say is right but you initialy asked me why i wouldn't want him in my team, well this is the answer.

Yes I agree with the fact that van Bommel has some unprofessional moments in his carreer, but I do see him becoming a more mature player (at least this tournament), and I think he is learning to understand that players that are committing useless fouls are useless for the team's performance. Especially for him because he's a key player in most teams he has played in.

Anyway - I understand your point of view, and you have every right to not want him in your team ;)

I have a problem with Futbol fans and "history". The commentary and analysis leading up to the Netherlands v Brazil game was all; Brazil should be favourites because they beat Holland many many years ago, and Holland haven't won a world cup.

This is just a load of crap, please tell me what happened from that long ago to have any significance now.. It really makes no sense, and this is also applying to what you guys are saying about players. What has happened a long time ago doesn't mean a player still does it. People change, just like the teams they play on. The Dutch losing in the 70's doesn't have any weight on the teams outcome of this tournament.

But I digress.. Hup Holland Hup Yes I'm Dutch. lol

@Restless^Gun.nl, xou me kapot schamen als ik Deutsch was na het zien van dat filmpje

And my opinion about van Bommel, it is a rat, a disgrace for (dutch) soccer, and personally I think he is only there because he is the son in law of the coach. I am sorry for the harsh comment, but the way he steps on ankles and hands out elbows is considered art only by intense evil people.
He promised to make less fouls in order to be let back in on the national team, but it is in the guy's nature, he is a red card magnet.
van Bommel fair play

And then now for something completly different:
