Recently been playing on a server ( you know who you are) that kicks people when they approach 300 points claiming that if anyone goes over 300 points all players lose their score.

As i had never heard of this before I asked the admins about it but they are adamant that it is so.

So me being me I logged a ticket with EA just to get to the bottom of this, here is EA's response


There is no rules if somebody get over 300 points loses their points.May be that server is a hacking server.

Well I know the server isnt a hacking server all good guys (even if they do tend to medic too much)
So will you guys now let people get more than 300 points ???

Don't mind letting folk know it was our server - we were concerned people lost points and kit time.

Good to get the official word from EA Games about this, and I can confirm that there is certainly no problem on the Team Enclave server if that is what EA say. That is confirmed by the other admins as well - just spoken to them. Play till you drop, guys.

I have been in a couple of games recently where one person got over 300 points and no-one got any points, badges etc. - I also know it wasn't a hacking server. Maybe it was just one of those weekend games which never got the points credited and it was just a co-incidence.

Yes there is a point limit. If a player goes over a certain amount of points, those stats will not be recorded for that round. It used to be 400 points. This is EA's way of preventing point farmers from stats padding and to help identify hacked or compromised servers/accounts. Now if a players is kicked from a server for it, then that's the admins doing, not EA, DICE, or PB. If one player goes over the set point limit, it will only affect that individual player. Everyone else will still get their points and other stats recorded.

As far as i know the maximum point limit is 450 , i have a score of over 500 way back when i first started, those were the days when i was good, raping the hell out of mec on kubra

iv'e never been reset or asked about my score, but as far as i knwio the score limit 450, maybe some1 should put a ticket in and actually ask what is the mximum score limit on battlefield2 to prevent stats padders getting high scores.

Just like Viking here said, this '300 point rule' is not, I repeat NOT something we came up with.

Phallus played with us a month back on our server and scored like 340 points. No one got their points for that round. Coincidence perhaps if EA says so.

But we shall see, I just came from the server and the top guy got way over 300 points.

Several times in the last couple of months I've been in servers and someone got over thee hundred points,(someone else, not me) and after checking my stats my score didn't register. One of the times I think I had around 200, and lost it. Maybe, if it's not intentional on EA's part, it's some kind of bug?

Only been recently that I notice this though.

Something here clearly needs further confirmation/explanation from EA Games.

Everyone who has noticed this in their scores (or rather their lack of score) please let's get a body of evidence together for EA to address??

I have seen those score limit rules on several servers, usually they are something between 250 and 300.

If you spot a padding server on the server list, all the top players seem to have the same exact score, 250 for example. Maybe they think it's a safe bet and no one will be interested in their businesses with those scores.

If EA stated that all scores more than 300 IAR (for example) are considered as stat padding, the players would abuse this limit and they would just score a little less. I have no clue what happens if you get more points, that is pretty rare unless you have a maraton round on I/O server with just a few players.

Well...so far no points for me.

Before this evening I had 75482 points. Did a short round of Karkand and then this Sharqi round with the top guy scoring way over 300 points.

Now I have 75562. Those points gained is from the Karkand round. And I know for a fact that I scored atleast 150 points on Sharqi.

Somehow it don´t add up does it???

This is the 2nd time it has happend to me.

there is a limit im sure my clan has a server and theres usually only a few of us in there on a 64 player karkand so we always get high scores in there and the last 2 times ive been over 300 points i never recieved the points. so from no on i just stop playing after 250 points.

To get back to the original post by yourself, Layzee, looks like we were right (and still are) to restrict scoring to a maximum of 300 points, despite what EA say. Maybe we should make the limit even lower to 250 points, just to be on the safe side. We will need to consider this as admins together.

I appreciate you were trying to clarify a situation that you were not comfortable seeing, and I know you often express public concern with any admins/servers who are doing things that you don't fully appreciate/like. Nothing wrong with that if it exposes unfair admin/server use/violations.

However, with regard to the maximum points issue, the evidence is already stacking up that we were, indeed, acting in the best interests of the players at the time (including your good self)?

The response from EA was interesting, but is already being shown to be flawed, and therefore less than adequate. Seeing as how you already have a ticket open with them, then perhaps you would like to carry this forwards with them, please, in the interests of the BF2 community as whole.

I have a BRS of 490 on Karkand, so that blows your theory of 450 Black_Fox

And this is the round where I got 390 points on Sharqi - which incidentally never showed up in my stats, and no one esle got their points that round:

Reading this thread I wonder, this sounds more and more like work and not a game. Mails going backward / forward, clarification / discussion, forwarding, the whole lot that I experience each day in my job.
As if points have any value worth discussing in earnest.

BUT, don't get me wrong: I'm the same. Points are important and losing them annoys me as much as people who take short cuts by padding or using aimbots.
I sometimes just try to step back and ask myself, what the heck am I doing here, playing a game for 600+hours and arguing in earnest about virtual achievements.

This situation only seems to have started in the last 4 or five weeks, from what I understand. Before my account was reset I had a few rounds which were more than 300 and no problem with getting the points, but about a month ago it seems that 300 points is a maximum, and then everyone in that round gets nothing.

Only recently happened, but I can't figure out if it was when a new PB update was released, or not.

Anyone else got thoughts on this?

And yet, still we are all here.....
