Dude trust me, don't buy ready, only buy True HD or 1080 p. There is a great deal of stuff coming down the pipe and the minimum required will be 1080 p. You can find good deals on them if you look around.

The other thing is that all LCD and plasma TVs are made in the same three factories essentially. When i was in Thailand you could buy them really cheap because some of the factory workers had their own "bidness" going on from China.

You can have one for the low low price of just $50,000

Anyhow, only a PC can currently put out a game at 1080p and higher. I know some of you are thinking PS3, and your wrong. They have a very limited selection of games that can put out 1080i, and Xbox360 has none to include the 360 elite. Yeah Blue Ray and the failed HD-DVD can put out 1080p during movie playback, but the consoles cant produce a game that high. I only get like 20 channels in HD and they aren't even a descent 1080i source from my cable company. So whats the motivation at the moment again to go higher than 720p which is like half the price of a 1080p set again?

Also I think 1440p is in the works so 1080p sets will drop in price when that happens.

HD-DVD didn't really fail as such, it just lost backing.. besides, it did what it was supposed to do, whereas blue-ray has all these different versions and bullshit, it's currently v2.1 isn't it? Pointless.
