Ok, since i've got myself a xbox 360 and i've only got some HUUUGGEE 15'' tv, i'm getting a new one soon.
Probably this one: http://www.samsung.com/me/products/tv/l ... 19r71b.asp
it says it's HD ready... not sure what it is... is it a HDTV ?
And what kind of things will it support, my current one only supports 480p, i think it's the worst, right?
Maybe someone can explain it to me, wikipedia is way too hard :?
Thx.

I'm not sure if it is, according to the page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/480p 480p is just standard definition NTSC DV, the 480 refers to the number of horizontal 'lines', the diagram on that page shows how the different resolutions compare... although of course I could be wrong :)

Shit, can't edit that post, I misread, your current TV is 480p, so no that one isn't HD, but the one you posted looks ok to me.

1080p is the highest of HD you can get.
If is says HD ready then it is either 720p or 1080p
I would go for 1080p if you have the xbox 360 or PS3.
But the 720p should do fine with the xbox.
The xbox should do upsizing, but idk bout xboxes, been a fan on the PS consoles my whole life.

HD ready TVs can be .. uh, "unlocked" as some people say, to be full HDTV, but I'm not sure aboot that.

Also, i = interlaced, p = progressive, progressive being better .. by a small margin, but still better.

ALSO i've had HD capabilities for as long as I've had this monitor, and I lol @ people that say "omg my hdtv is amazen u've probly nevar scene enyfing liek it"

lololololololololcake

you're upgrading your TV 4 inches?

i would just save up for a 25-32 inch TV.... a 4 inch difference isnt much of a difference

I would go for something around the mid 30 inch size.
But if you low on money that tv should be fine.

I like the size tho (same size as pc monitor)

But thanks for the feedback guys.

Personally, I'd save up for a 37-incher. Or 42.

If I were to get a new moniter tv/monitor, which I'm probably going to do (employee discount ftw) then I'd probably go for a 19 inch, maybe a slightly larger one. Not by preferance, more practicality. If I were to buy a humungoid, I'd have to buy a new desk and then have to find space for it, and I'm FAAAAAAAAR too lazy for all that. Plus, 19" is a nice size and you can buy some really nice ones.

I'm currently still using my Dell M991 monitor, it's like 6 years old or something ... but it still works, and I'll only replace it when it stops working. I've actually got room on this desk for 2, maybe 3 flat-panels, this being a big CRT takes up most of the room.

AAAaaaaanyway ... I need to go pee. bbl.

Did the research on this 1 a while ago, to hell with the TV if you're just using it for xbox 360.
Go ahead and get a monitor and get the vga cable for the 360.
Use my 360 on a 24" LG monitor with 1920 x 1200 res.
Sure it isn't 62" of pure high def, but I get full 1080p and I didn't spend my life's savings to get it.
Basically if you want good resolution for gaming use a monitor, it has higher res. for the price and you'll get a bigger display.
If you still need it for TV. Get a TV tuner for your PC you'll thank yourself that your PC is now a TIVO.

Sorry I wasn't more specific. You need an xbox 360 VGA cable.
Bought mine for $20 us.
And yes that is all you need.
