Me and my mate are having a quarrel over this (as we always do) so I thought i'd settle it with a general vote :D

I won't say who wants what to win (in case of biased voting) but place your votes and opinions as to why... Also, say if you've played or never played one or the other (also, Rome total war and AOM aren't included, but you can say if you've played/enjoyed either)

I have only played Rome Total War, and I thought it was a good game. But I might check the one that wins out.

Well, I'd have to say AoE 2 and 3 (Albeit I could only vote for one of 'em, I voted for 3) - I can't say I've played Medievil total war 1 or 2. Age of Empires has been around for a good while and I've always enjoyed playing it - It never gets old, albeit it does get slightly repetative. It has/had a very large online community.

Love medieval total war 2 :D would be even better if my computer was any good and could run properly and make use of the graphics but... it's a really enjoyable game, but can get repetitive after a while. Not to say that the AOE series arn't good, but they just don't have the epic scale of the total war series :)

AoE2 is the best, 3 sucked. I never played the others.

MTW is the best in that list. AOE imo is dull dull dull.

MTW2 i dont like the real time campaign map, and the factions feel shit as well.

never played AOE 3, but i dont like the resource gathering of the series, and colonial period is boring so i doubt i would like this game either.

MTW is the ultimate game for me, the campaign map is clear and bold and makes you feel like a general. Sure the graphics arnt great, but gameplay is 10x more important than graphics, and the gameplay in this game is awesome !! The tech trees are good and worth upgrading, and the sheer vastness of the game makes the replayability ages.

I like AoE 2 I have 3 also but didn't like it as much as two even though the futuristic armies were pretty cool.

As far as for the total war series I never got into them I played them at a friends house for a couple of hours each but that style of game just doesn't suit my need to kill someone face to face, even though it is nice to see an army of 2000 troops seizing a poor little castle.

Futuristic armies? O.o It's set in the time of empires hundreds of years ago (dunno when...) you must be thinking of empire earth maybe?

Age of Empires 2 is set just after the time that the Roman Empire collapses, Age of Empires 3 is around.. Steam engine time, I believe.

Graphics on Age of Empires 2 aren't that great but it's still enjoyable - Take tonight for example, played a multi with Ke200 (Alex) for around 3 hours and had loads of fun. I hope to do it again sometime :)

I went for Medieval II but would have gone for Age of Mythology had it been on the list. I liked AOM as it was like a souped-up version of AOEII.

AOE III was visually stunning, but I found that online play was pointless. The enemy either rushes you or spams with Dutch Super-Horses. (Maybe I'm just crap?)

Medieval II is also visually appealing and has the superficial advantage in my opinion in that you could play as the English. :P The battles are also rather more tactical, it's not so much Rock, Paper, Scissors as most other RTS games.

IMO Dungeon Keeper 2 isn't as good as Age of Empires 2/3, I personally have Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, completed both of them. I found more joy from Age of Empires 2 though.
