I played the alpha and basically my conclusion is any1 that can play BC2 at max will be able to play this game at least in mid's.

your ram is ok you'll be using about 2457MB running the game. But your video card might not allow you to go all the way to max. if you are planning on using res of 1920 x 1080 at max you wont. Maybe at 1024 x 720 in mid's or low yeah. Another thing is your cpu. I already have an AMD phenom II 965 clocked at 4.00GHz and when I play BC2 of BF3 alpha it uses 80 to 83% of my cpu. So your cpu will be chocking a lot. Anyway, no worries. computer parts are not so much affected by the economy it seams. they are very cheap still.

Darn it look like i need new video card.. i dont think that good old 4870 with 512 memory can handle BF 3 in min settings and also i think i need new cpu. I got Intel E8400 3.0 in default but i dont think even when i overclock it dont have enough power, and i have 4870 allready to overclock to max....

I just had to upgrade.

Well i didnt "have" too, but one of my 4870 x2 died, and my 2.4Ghz q6600 wasnt coping to well at times.
So decided to upgrade, while PC components are quite well priced. And i got a few quid for my old rig, as a work mate wanted a PC, just to play Football Manager, with some browsing.

So my new rig is

CPU - i7 950 3.04Ghz (Clocking it upto 4Ghz soon)
RAM - 12Gb DDR3 Corsair Vengance 1600Mhz
GPU - HD 6950 (unlocked to be as HD 6970) I may well buy another later on for Crossfire

2 SSD's, 1x 120Gb (OS and Programs), 1x 240Gb (Games, etc) , and 1.5Tb HDD for Storage.

Wasnt cheap mind you, but was planning on upgrading within a year, anyway, so was saving for that, and wasnt as bad as i managed to get rid of my old rig.

It might be a chance that in this moment nothing computer can run BF3 in max, like Arma2 or GTA IV when they did come up.

Well my computer can run BC2 in High settings, with a 1024x768 (i think thats right? not too sure) res.

It usually has no problems, only will lag for a sec or two when a big explosion goes on (like a tank blowing up).
but other than that, no problems, will this be the same for BF3 you think?

Also, im not too familiar with tech talk, what do you all mean by "clocked" and "unclocked"? like regarding your RAM and whatnot

It should be alright, might have to be on med or low on some settings, but it's mostly just people "guessing" at the moment, by whats been seen/said.

Overclocking, by where you make something quicker/faster, in a nutshell.
Unclocked (unless stated when buying, becuase you can buy things overclocked to begin with) is something right out the box, running at the speed it was when it was made.

AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
6144MB RAM ddr3 @1333Mhz
ATI HD6850 1gig GDDR5

I'll be running BF3 at 1680x1050 so I'm hoping to run 30 minimum fps on medium with 2xAA 8xAF and no vsync poop.

MW3 I'll skip, I went deus ex human revolution instead (It's preloading right now, yay)

We are gonna have a good couple of months ahead of us if DICE is keeping it's word.
Happy hunting all 8-)

EDIT: oh yeah this is delta-sniping-heads from E2N and a little while in EAF, but my old BF2stats net account got deleted due to inactivity so made this one.

Out of curiosity...

Those of you guys who played the alpha, what kind of hardware did you play on and how smooth was it?

Keeping my fingers crosses that my upgrades are enough...can´t spend that much more on the gamecomp....wife will kill me ;)
