yes its coming soon. But, admins don't close your servers in BF2 just yet cause you might not get what you wanted out of BF3. I played the alpha and it was like playing BC2 with the skin of medal of honor. They did say they fixed almost everything about the alpha like the spotting system which was the most annoying thing. But, regardless If I were you I would go in with open mind, play the game and see if it feels like the true successor of BF2. If not go nuts posting on EA, not here, until they hear you loud and clear. I know I will be speaking my mind. Is because of oldschool BF2 players that complained in the alpha that they fixed those things. So let's keep that in mind.

I posted this yesterday in the system requirements thread.
because I decide whether I find it a succesor to bf2 I'm currently most dissapoined in the fact that we are getting operation metro in rush.
We can't decide if it's what we wanted because rush simply plays very diferent from cq.

another bad news for true battlefield 2 gamers. Battlefield 3 planes aren't going to have bombs anymore. I am telling you BF3 it's not going to be the true successor of BF2. By the way things are looking I rather grow old playing BF2 than BF3. I couldn't care less about graphics. I am more into gameplay than anything else. But, you guys make up your mind I can't do it for you. I will tell you this much. Not one person is happy about alot of things thats been done to BF3.

Sadly BF3 reminds me too much of bad company 2, the game modes, sounds and almost everything else but the jets and attack helis...
but i will try and see what its like, if i dont like it i will probably start playing BF2 again :D

I believe jets are getting laser guided Air to Ground missiles, but i may be mistaken.
It would make sense considering america really doesn't use dumb bombs anymore.

Luckily im more into I/O myself.. but I agree with you if you wont get air to ground missiles it would be really really stupid.

edit: or to quote someone on the link you provided

Quote:
Jets will have air to ground capability, but won't be able to use "dummy bombs". Targets will most likely be lazed by infantry, at which point the jet will be able to lock on to targets.

This move promotes teamwork, a thing which most BF fans are crying about this game NOT requiring since the loss of the commander.

As an air lalalalala this is a good move.

To be honest i'm excited for the beta. I do like BC2, only thing that i didn't like, was the inability to go prone, and no jet's.
So if BF3 is just a more serious, better looking and better played (etc) of bc2, with prone and jet's, then to be honest i'll be happy.

But maybe that's just me

Kind of agree there if I understand myself correctly ;)

After all, Battlefield 3 is a new game in the battlefield series. I have never expected it to be a polished bf2 even though I hope that the gameplay is more like bf2 than bc2. Yes, I do like bc2 but there is something missing...it feels like a console game somehow (wich it originally is/was).

So if bf3 "feels" like bf2 I will be extremely happy. If it "feels" like bc2 well...major bummer. It will still be cool....for a period...not for years.

Ah well, we´ll see I guess ;)

Trust me that wont be the reason your not gonna get it and the fact that we just need to use some AG missiles instead of bombs doesn't brake the game there. I do think removing the bombs is kinda odd but i can still use my trusty mg if the inf guys cant laze me any targets.

so far what iv seen it looks and sounds really good on paper defo gonna try it out in beta and then get better overall picture before i make any decisions.

Anyway, let's all test the beta. I know I'm starting on the 27th, 48 hours early. Cause I preordered this game months ago. I just hope is not to different in gameplay from BF2. On the other hand part of me wants to stay with it either way cause I am getting wake island, karkand, jalalabad, and Oman and wake is my favorite map. I'll see what I do with it

1st, i agree, we need to play the beta before making any rash decisions.

Too bad one APC at the start is the only vehicle as far as I know that we will see in this beta.

Nope the LAV at the start has been taking out of the beta,
theres a rumour that they might add a conquest map or put conquest on op metro after the 1st week.
Really hope thats true because conquest was terrible in bc2 & rush is just a meat grinder style of play.
