did you load BF, then sf, then patched to 1.5?

if so uninstall it all. you need to load BF, then SF then patch 1.41 & then 1.5

I had the same problem.

once done you will still need to run as administrator

I've just installed bf2 on win7 pro 64bit and I haven't had any problems. I did patch to 1.41 then 1.5 before running bf2 or spec forces though.

I had the same problem, the thing that solved it for me was as everyone is saying, patch to 1.41 then 1.5. Ive had a couple of minor probs since but nothing worth noting.

1.41 + 1.5 should be enough. It's running fine here on my windows 7 pro on my macbook.

But i disabled some things like User Account Control, Windows Defender. And i don't use a virus scanner or firewall, other then the default one.

Well after 2 nites of NO BF i have decieded to put Vista back on my machine if after i have re-downloaded patch 1.41 & that still fails.

Heres what i have done to try & get this working. This is with Windows 7 Pro.

when i install BF, at the point where you setup VOIP i click OK & Windows tells me that BF2voipsetup has stopped responding, after searching for hours i found that if you stop the BF2voipsetup process in task manager the install completes OK. Or so it seems..............

i then run patch 1.41, it runs for ages & then at finish says "patch unsuccessfull" Huh?
If i reboot & run patch 1.41 again it still says "patch unsuccessfull", im going to download 1.41 again & see if thats the problem.

i have installed, un-installed & re-installed 4 times now each time with the same result

this all happens without SF even being installed as when i originally installed bf i put sf on aswell which returned errors saying certain files were locked? so i removed everything & just installed BF & then ran patch 1.41.

Any help from you guys running Windows 7 & BF would be great

really really annoying, i was up till midnight trying to sort this but no joy, a real pity but it looks like im gonna have to load Vista again, REALLY like Windows 7 aswell

HELP PLEASE

In your user profile try deleting the BF2 profiles, this will force BF2 to create new ones rather than placed by the installer. It may fix some setting your pc doesnt like.

New to win7 meself too, is there anyhting in the event log for an application crash ?

This sounds almost definately graphics sound related. Have you installed the sound drivers from your motherboard manufacturer and not using the standard windows ones (just thinking of any hardware acceration the game maybe trying to do). As the game cant find something or is miss using something and being shutdown.

@CyFa i had that too when i was installing but i didnt use taskmgr to shut it down. Think i just click ok to the stopped responding prompt.

also this is ahandy little tip. If you can (might not help you now) create a copy of a working BF2 installation and save it somewhere. Once you've tried re-installing in win7 and got all your registry settings in place copy back over the working install.

I installed w7 ult 64 other night bf2 installed fine from my total collection disc (it patches automatically to 1.41) I then patched to 1.5.
akll went smoothly i then copied my settings profile across and fired it up for a game, game ran fine smooth as but what i did discover was my mouse and stik mappings wouldnt work.

I have logitech g5 mouse and i have the centre wheel set to switch between primary and secondary weapon as well as jump, the 2 lefthand buttons 1 creates a squad other spots enemy.
After hours of cussing and swearing as you do it looks like the problem lies with the logitech setpoint software even though it is supposed to support w7 it didnt work for me i tried all sorts compatabillity mode run as admin but to no avail.

so am back on vista ult 64 for the time being the weird thing is it is the exact same setpoint software for both vista 64 and w7 64 !!

Im going to create an image of vista for a fast restore and then try again with w7 as it has to be something stupid !!!
