I have one concern about this post, I dont hack at all I dont agree with it and think they all need to be hung out by their toes and fed e-lax until the flies ate them to death.

I have an ATI radeon 9700 blah blah blah. but theres a setting on there that I can show my FPS. Thats not a hack. Other than that though, great post man, thanks.

yeah u can have the FPS using the ` key in game and typing something I cant remember.
And i would prefer have all hackers :x hung by the balls   if they have any

this is the commander for FPS when u are in the consul: renderer.drawfps 1 to undo this renderer.drawfps 0

Btw Xfire skin ''Shadow'' also shows your FPS

The one showing enemy squad leaders doesn't necessarily indicate a cheater.

I have switched teams and seen a blinking red squad leader icon on my map.

FPS can give an indication of what sort of strain ur PC is under while gaming..the higher your FPS the better ur game will run and feel.

You used to be able up ur max fps (not sure if this is still valid after 1.5 but i use it and my FPS is generally around 200)

game.lockfps (insert number)

I think default setting locks it to 100 (i may be wrong) so being able to use 200 rather than 100 FPS would see a dramatic difference in gameplay.

I play on high graphics settings and get a decent framerate which inturn makes me harder to kill and means my shots fire "True" in tht they generally hit where i aim with little of the "dust" i had so much of before.

Fiddle with ur settings an try tweakin ur rig to get the best balance between FPS and Graphics.

Correct, it defaults to 100fps. You can also set that setting to 0. This will unlock the fps. This will make the fps count go as high as it can.

So, if I am right the best thing to do is while ingame press "`" or "~" (depending on keyboard), type "game.lockfps 0",
or as Bourne suggests: "game.lockfps 200"?

Correct.

What I like to do to confirm the change is first lock it to 10fps. Then I set it to 0 to confirm that the lag is gone.

i experienced a strange bug/hack? in bf 1.5,
my team was mec:

some of the enemies had the outfit(looks) of MEC,
and some of my teammates showed up like enemies,

very annoying, and lots of teamkills

i made some screenshots, but there not obvious 2 teams same outfit

It's highly unlikely you ever will.
This is because of the ammount of data contained and needed to be captured in a single full sized screenshot would impact on the performance of the server and game.

If you visit pbbans and look at the various pbss bans shown;
http://www.pbbans.com/mbi-latest50-bf2-lfb13.html
or GGC
http://www.ggc-stream.com/banlist/info/hallofshame

most pbss will show the top left corner to a varying extent (this is dependant on both the screen capture settings and the resolution the player is using.) from these you can identify the settings these clans/communities are using:
The reason we tend to capture the top left is that we are able to hopefully capture the targeting crosshair, ESP/Chams etc. and any mini-radar hacks.

Your pbsv.cfg file relating to pbss's will eventually look something like this:

pb_sv_SsFloor 1 //[Low screenshot filename serial #]
pb_sv_SsCeiling 10000 //[High screenshot filename serial #]
pb_sv_SsCmd "" //[Filename of system command to run after screenshots]
pb_sv_SsWidth 800 //[Requested pixel width of remote screenshots]
pb_sv_SsHeight 410 //[Requested pixel height of remote screenshots]
pb_sv_SsXpct 80 //[Percentage across screen for remote screenshots]
pb_sv_SsYpct 20 //[Percentage down screen for remote screenshots]
pb_sv_SsSrate 2 //[Sample Rate for remote screenshots]
pb_sv_SsDelay 0 //[Maximum delay client waits before capturing screenshot]
pb_sv_SsPath "" //[Path where remote screenshots are saved]

changing the SsXpct SsYpct moves the screenshot position along the x and y axis of the screen.

The sample rate returns 1 pixel / per x (x = sample rate)
In the above example 1/2 the pixels are captured over the quoted pbss area.

NB:
There will still be a large proportion of black pbss returned.
This is due to a number of factors and you should not presume this is an indication of hacking activity.

About Dam time someone levels the playing field with something other than PB. I think your concept is quite worth the risk even if there is a an overall lack of in game performance. BF2 has always been glitchy y y y y y and when you add some packet lo___ __ ___ss from your i.s.p while your in game, you probably will not know a screen shot had just occurred. It should be no more taxful on system performance as is if you would have had hit your "Prt Scrn"/(Print Screen) key and taken an in game screen shot.

Good job hope your idea will help those of us who hate to play against a cheater and allows other fellow cheaters like themselves to play on their servers. I think PB still works but just another layer of anti-cheat will be well worth the performance risk to keep cheaters from playing on ranked/pub servers.

I hope this sends a strong message that cheaters are not appreciated and there is a need to be banned from joining ranked/pub servers. Perhaps there is a real need for banning besides the age old classic "You have been banned by server admin for excessive team killing". Sure I have been guilty of some friendly fire but wasn't my own team I was killing, it was the other.
