I really don't like Windows 7 so far.
when you install it it installs Dx11 and there is no way of downgrading your Dx version,
so basically it comes down to this: BF2 is a Dx9 game, I run it on a Dx10 card on a Dx11 pc

DX11 in Win7 is backwards compatible with DX9 and 10 so that shouldn't be your problem, maybe it's something else causing problems?

And to the guy having problems running BF2 on Win7, you say your trying to run it totally un-patched right? Well that's probably your problem right there, it's always wise to install the latest patch when trying to get an older game to run on a new operating system. I think I had the same problem trying to run BF2 straight after install on Win7 x64. Patched it to v1.50 and it then worked.

manually update punkbuster. also try turning off v-sync if its forced, i have a few clanmates that run it on win7 without a hitch, the only thing they had to do was run as administrator. might also want to try compatability mode, or trying to run bf2 windowed. or just ditch winblows 7, and format with xp.
