You should have no problems running BF2 on Windows 7, as long as everything else is correctly configured.

If you post more information regarding the version you have, the patches installed and how this was done, the system you have etc....

The following is general help which resolves most problems:

1. Run BF2/BF2 SF as administrator
2. Run pbsetup.exe to upgrade punkbuster to latest version: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
3. Run pbsvc.exe : http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php
4. Make sure your video drivers and sound drivers are up to date.
If updated since installation delete graphics cache.
Found in my documents BF2 directory under mods.

The biggest thing I found was to make sure the physix was updated. BF2 runs fine, but I still cant get Sacred 2 to run

sorry if im being unclear but basically the game wont run, the game crashs b4 i get to the intro screen, cant even get near the log in screen

ive tryed all ur suggestions thus far but ive still got the same problem

all the info i can give u is that this is just the standard game

no sf, no patches...nothing......just bf2 alone, i have a feeling its the resolution or vid settings but i cant find a way to edit them without getting the "options" screen in game

Delete the video.com file from Documents/BF2/Profiles/Default

That should do it. If not, uninstall then delete the entire bf2 folder in my documents before reinstalling.

a lot of peeps are in my position and even when they get into the game their kicked becuz punkbuster and windows 7 rn't compatible without getting a load of driver updates and fiddling with the punkbuster settings which i dont have the 1st clue about

so it looks like im finally guna have to say goodbye to bf2 and move on prematurely to the world of BF2:BC2 :D

Dont autorun BF2 disc with windows 7.
Open up disc, find BF2.exe, right click on it & run in xp mode.
Then get PBsetup.exe from evenbalance & update PB

sadly, i had to downgrade my windows 7 from 64bits to 32bits for this reason,
so many Dx9 games just wont even start or install, and the problems are so much less worse on 32bits (which makes sense)

WoW and BF2 now work, but crash somewhat often, titanquest constantly crashes (about 1 time per minute) and GRAW1/2 wont even install etc.

i really dont like windows 7 so far
when u install it it installs Dx11 and there is no way of downgrading ur Dx version,
so basicly comes down to this: BF2 is a Dx9 game, i run it on a Dx10 card on a Dx11 pc

You could always run Win XP under Win 7 via Windows Virtual PC, don't ask me how to make this happen as I haven't tried it yet.

I run them both on dual boot now an it is a lot less hassle.

I've seen Windows Virtual PC in action, it's a lot less hassle than dual boot imo.
Setting up is a bit tricky, but once you've got it working it has more pro's than dual boot.
