Hi, i've got a problem and i'm hoping any of you can give me some help on this.

I had Vista running on C: and XP on D:, I've formatted the Vista drive (c:) and installed Win7 on C:, and that all went good.
When I was running Vista and XP in dualboot I could choose which OS I wanted to run when booting the PC.
Now that I installed Windows7 that screen is no longer showing, and it's automatically booting up Win7.

I've tried EasyBCD to edit the boot file to get the multiple OS's shown when booting, but it didn't really go as planned, I'm now unable to boot any OS and it gives the error: NTLDR is missing - Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart.

Can anyone give me some assistance on how to get the NTLDR files back in place without having access to any of my OS's?

Thanks in advance.

Update:

I've managed to get back in to Windows 7 again.

I have also created an entry for windows XP in the bootloader, and it does show up when booting up the computer, but when I try to boot XP it's says that NTLDR is not found.

When dual-booting, it is always recommended to have the older OS installed first. However, in your case, that does not mean that you have to reformat.

In EasyBCD, go to the tab where you can "Uninstall the Vista Bootloader". Once that is selected, click "Write MBR". Now you have to reboot. When you reboot, you will (or should) boot into XP. You also have to have EasyBCD installed on XP, because we will be adding Windows 7 to the boot manager from here.

In XP, open EasyBCD and go to the tab where you can add entries to the boot manager list. In the part called "Add an Entry", make sure you have Windows selected. Then select Windows Vista/Longhorn from the "type" list. Now give a name and make sure to give drive name "D". Now click on "Add Entry".

Now go back to the bootloader manager tab and this time make sure you have "Reinstall the Vista Bootloader" selected. Then click on "Write MBR" and reboot. Your dual-boot should be working now.

Remember, from XP, the XP partition will always be C:\ and Windows 7 will always be D:
In Windows 7, the W7 partition will always be C:\, while XP will be D:\

Thanks for the reply Tizmo, but I already got it working without EasyBCD - thank god for oldskool CMD commands :)

Now it's time for DigiDesign to support 64Bit Vista/Win7 so I can get rid of XP for ProTools ;)

Thanks anyway mate.

How is ProTools on XP? If I'm not mistaken, ProTools is designed to work best on macs.

Everything that should be stable runs better on Macs

I would rather have it run on Mac but the only Mac I have is a Macbook, so I've got ProTools running on XP and it runs pretty good.

At school everything runs on Mac Pro's which definitely has a better performance and stability when running lots of tracks and plugins.

ProTools also runs much better on Intel processors than it does on AMD's is my experience.
