Just wondering if anyone here plays the TW series?Really good games, the best have to be rome or medieval 2 though the latest one empire was a disapointment for alot of TW fans.

YUp I have played Medieval, and I also got the Viking Expansion for that edition too (no surprise there).

Found the gameplay a little slow, tbh, but very clever game.

Played Rome, played/playing Medieval 2.
Awesome games although AI is sorta stupid and slow to react in battles which can be kind annoying (I'm talking about the enemies as well as your own soldiers)

Guess who I am

And yes, the Pope (who belonged to my country) tragically died when a very poisonous snake somehow made its way to his bed. That's strange, it happened right after he threatened to excommunicate me because I besieged a Danish castle (they betrayed me again)

I played with Britain and conquered Europe i was not very popular for pope
Only Ally was Spain what Betrayed me and i killed every prisoner of war in everybattle and exterminated populance of 90% cities they deserved it. Holy crusaders from pope againt me was some times very brutal but the mongols were hard to stop untill their armies slowly halted to my ballistas and mass armies.

I usually honored the pacts but the other countries betrayed me everytime so i basically started to trust only for me (lol some of my troops actually rebelled against me while to while).

But the most problematic things was the inqusitors who killed my generals if they were moving in map so i needed to move time carefully and sometimes with ships in sea

Im not sure if my save game is still somewhere in my harddrive but im sure i wont start new game.

For other totalwar games than Medieval 2 i played old 1 and Rome too oh and shogun what was my first totalwar game.

Now i have that imperial total war it really has bad bugs and gamecrashes i stopped playing it when my Save game got "corrupted" everytime i loaded the game and press turn button it crashed so it was waste of my money even i patched it.

I have played 5 years now Hearts of iron2 i have seen everything Conquered world with various countries also minors like Finland with 1 real year of play. Also with North Korea what i "modded" in to begin of the game but the time limit always ends so i use No Time Limit patch.

Hearts of iron 3 was dissapointment. (not more to say)

Nice thread sorry for my bad English

Edit: And i forgot the Europa Universalis 3 with expansions its nice game if you want more deep game than Total war games its like Hearts of iron series but for 1500-1800 Years

Good to see some TW players on here,TW vets to going back to shogun.Yous seem to have played alot of single player, what about multi player? Thats were our clan started out,ahh the good old days :D

They are bring out a new one this month,to be honest it looks like a empire expansion rather than a new game with more steam DLC. Ill give this one a miss for a few months this time, wait and see what its really like.

I played Rome for a bit and liked it. Bring on the War Dogs, that's all I can say.

What is so bad about the latest instalment of TW? It looks amazing with the ship battles?

Ahh the war dogs were good, zerkers owned!

Empire changed from gamespy over to steam,it was ment to improve the multiplayer issues but turned out worse. The game was put on the shelfs to soon also,i paid nearly £40 for a game that was full of bugs which kinda peeved me off.The likes of rtw/mtw2 were every faction was played differently, obvious strengths and weaknesses, tactics galore which was a great challenge on multi player, etw lacks this all units are to similar and its the same old tactics, maybe its just the period but i find it boring compared to the others.

There was talk of a rtw2 which would be good, not sure how far they can go now with tw as ww2 etc rts games have been covered with the likes of companys of heros and others.

love rome and mtw2

used to don with the english, when you had some decent cash flow and support larger armies you could just roll over enemies with ease, good times.

did a few online battles too which was a laugh, never really did it much though - alhtough me and my mate used to do 2 vs 2s on rome, though we got smashed mostly as we pissed about and had armys of beserkers xD

The english are a strong faction in mtw2,strong infantry and good long range missile units. The heavey cav are not the best, even though there second weapon is a axe.

Zerkers are tough fookers, the pigs were a good laugh also good at getting rid of enemy elephants.

I've got all the total wars up to Empire - didnt bother with that one.

Thought shogun was a good start but the diversity wasnt really there.

The first medieval was in my opinion the best of the series. Very diverse cultures and sets of units, brilliant campaign map, good replayability etc. I really think they captured the feel of the era.

Rome was good, but i really dont like the 3D campaign map. The fight scenes were brilliant - great graphics and diverse units, but the map just didnt do it for me. I really liked the paper look to the shogun and medieval maps which made you feel like a general. The 3D maps for me arnt enough of a distinction between the campaign map and the battles.

MTW2 was again an improvement graphically, but i dont think the gameplay is much improved, and the story has been told before in the original.

I've played and completed all of them as various factions, but medieval is the only one i keep going back to.
